The neighborhood of San Cristóbal in Cusco

The San Cristóbal Neighborhood has the most picturesque streets featuring the historic center, and the best viewpoints of the city during the day.

San Cristóbal is one of the most traditional neighborhoods of Cusco. It is located northwest of the city, and it is known for its beautiful colonial church. During the time of the Incas, this was the site of the palace of the first Inca ruler (Manco Capac). During colonial times, this place adopted the name of San Cristóbal because the church of the same name was built on top of the Inca temple (Qolqampata). This is recognized as the neighborhood with the most religious festivities in the city (approx. 10 important religious festivities during the year). San Cristóbal features narrow and picturesque cobblestone streets,  as well as the most breathtaking vista of the city to be viewed during the daytime.
